Price for Aluminium Waste and Scrap in the United States (FOB) - 2023

In July 2023, the average aluminium waste and scrap export price amounted to $1,783 per ton, with a decrease of -1.9% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a mild slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 10% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,061 per ton. From June 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Mexico ($1,913 per ton) and Canada ($1,872 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($1,629 per ton) and Indonesia ($1,661 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In July 2023, the average aluminium waste and scrap import price amounted to $1,759 per ton, with a decrease of -3.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 16% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,192 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($1,793 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($1,440 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
