In general, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 68% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,545 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($1,465 per ton), while the average price for exports to Finland ($854 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +30.2% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 53%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $277M, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, aluminium waste and scrap imports fell markedly to $111M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 67% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $139M, and then contracted markedly in the following year.
