The average aluminium waste and scrap export price stood at $1,164 per ton in 2022, falling by -9.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 41% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1,657 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($1,579 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($820 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average aluminium waste and scrap import price stood at $1,411 per ton in 2022, surging by 5.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 112% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,771 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($5,280 per ton), while the price for Burundi ($253 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (+15.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Aluminium Waste and Scrap in Kenya
Aluminium waste and scrap exports from Kenya dropped dramatically to 5.6K tons in 2022, shrinking by -24.2% compared with the previous year.
