In 2022, the average aluminium waste and scrap export price amounted to $1,511 per ton, reducing by -9.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,744 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($1,922 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($1,069 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average aluminium waste and scrap import price amounted to $1,507 per ton, shrinking by -10.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 35% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,688 per ton, and then contracted in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($3,317 per ton), while the price for Italy ($631 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
