Price for Aluminium Waste and Scrap in Ecuador (FOB) - 2022

In January 2022, the average aluminium waste and scrap export price amounted to $1,969 per ton, growing by 8.9% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2021 to January 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5%. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2021 an increase of 18% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $2,062 per ton in November 2021; however, from December 2021 to January 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was the United States ($2,465 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($1,490 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average aluminium waste and scrap import price stood at $1,280 per ton in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 18%. The import price peaked at $2,082 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Panama ($1,692 per ton), while the price for Colombia ($800 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
