The average import price for aluminium; plates, sheets and strip, thickness exceeding 0.2mm, alloys, rectangular (including square)s stood at $3,960 per ton in November 2023, growing by 3.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 7.3% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,446 per ton. From April 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($5,429 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($2,989 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+10.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for aluminium; plates, sheets and strip, thickness exceeding 0.2mm, alloys, rectangular (including square)s amounted to $5,274 per ton, surging by 26% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible shrinkage. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $6,425 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($7,980 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($3,987 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ireland (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

After two years of decline, overseas purchases of aluminium; plates, sheets and strip, thickness exceeding 0.2mm, alloys, rectangular (including square)s increased by 12% to 412K tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.
In value terms, imports of aluminium; plates, sheets and strip, thickness exceeding 0.2mm, alloys, rectangular (including square)s soared to $1.9B in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +62.1% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +79.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 72% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
