The average import price for aluminium; plates, sheets and strip, thickness exceeding 0.2mm, alloys, rectangular (including square)s stood at $3,138 per ton in 2022, surging by 24% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average import price increased by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($7,833 per ton), while the price for Russia ($2,149 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
