In November 2023, the average import price for aluminium; plates, sheets and strip, thickness exceeding 0.2mm, alloys, rectangular (including square)s amounted to $4,140 per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a mild slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 18% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $5,007 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to November 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($6,232 per ton), while the price for Bulgaria ($1,646 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In November 2023, the average export price for aluminium; plates, sheets and strip, thickness exceeding 0.2mm, alloys, rectangular (including square)s amounted to $4,825 per ton, falling by -5.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a slight decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 23% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $6,327 per ton. From May 2023 to November 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In November 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Germany ($5,947 per ton) and Belarus ($5,209 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($3,967 per ton) and Latvia ($4,468 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, overseas purchases of aluminium; plates, sheets and strip, thickness exceeding 0.2mm, alloys, rectangular (including square)s decreased by -14.3% to 7K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, imports continue to indicate a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 8.2% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 8.2K tons, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, imports of aluminium; plates, sheets and strip, thickness exceeding 0.2mm, alloys, rectangular (including square)s amounted to $33M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +68.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 57%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
