Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 42% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,412 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($3,550 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($1,015 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hong Kong SAR (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
