The average import price for alcohols; cyclic, and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivativeses stood at $15,297 per ton in December 2023, surging by 27% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a mild downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 63% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $18,918 per ton in October 2023; however, from November 2023 to December 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($109K per ton), while the price for China ($7,761 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+14.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price peaked at $117K per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to December 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($220K per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($18,390 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 76%.
