In 2022, the average import price for albumins; albuminates and other albumin derivativeses amounted to $29,203 per ton, surging by 19% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 130%. The import price peaked at $34,944 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Tanzania ($38,117 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($1,000 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Rwanda (+94.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of albumins; albuminates and other albumin derivativeses, when their volume decreased by -12.8% to 54 tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 32%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 62 tons, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, imports of albumins; albuminates and other albumin derivativeses reached $1.6M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 30%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $1.6M; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
