Preserved Herring Price in Australia (CIF) - 2023
The average preserved herring import price stood at $5,325 per ton in July 2023, surging by 7.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 36% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5,886 per ton. From January 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Canada ($6,101 per ton) and Latvia ($6,076 per ton), while the price for Poland ($4,310 per ton) and Germany ($4,934 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Latvia (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
