The average preserved anchovies export price stood at $6,943 per ton in July 2023, increasing by 13% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($7,600 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cyprus ($4,066 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average preserved anchovies import price amounted to $10,194 per ton, dropping by -15.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 98%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $14,321 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Peru.
