The average prepared culture media import price stood at $37,995 per ton in 2022, which is down by -18% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 24%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $48,752 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($71,035 per ton), while the price for Italy ($6,322 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average prepared culture media export price amounted to $610 per ton, jumping by 24% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 78%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,455 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Myanmar ($824 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($72 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+136.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Prepared culture media imports into Thailand rose significantly to 868 tons in 2022, increasing by 8.8% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, total imports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +22.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +85.3% against 2019 indices. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +44.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 44% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $37M, and then fell in the following year.
