Pistachio Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
The average pistachio export price stood at $11,036 per ton in September 2023, rising by 28% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Israel ($18,388 per ton), while the average price for exports to Libya ($4,033 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+13.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pistachio Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2023
The average pistachio import price stood at $7,381 per ton in September 2023, with an increase of 19% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 37% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $9,265 per ton. From May 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Iran ($16,796 per ton), while the price for the United States ($6,571 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Pistachio Exports in Turkey
Pistachio exports from Turkey expanded significantly to 25K tons in 2022, surging by 7.1% on 2021 figures. In general, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +16.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +60.3% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 50%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, pistachio exports reached $258M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +68.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 54%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
