Photographic Paper Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023

The average photographic paper export price stood at $2.0 per square meter in August 2023, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a slight expansion from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, photographic paper export price decreased by -2.4% against June 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 54% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $2.2 per square meter in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to the United Arab Emirates ($2.3 per square meter) and Brazil ($2.3 per square meter), while the average price for exports to Spain ($1.6 per square meter) and Mexico ($1.6 per square meter) were amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Photographic Paper Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023

In August 2023, the average photographic paper import price amounted to $4.5 per square meter, rising by 10% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a slight expansion from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, photographic paper import price increased by +10.0% against July 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 51% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4.5 per square meter; afterwards, it flattened through to August 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($7.6 per square meter), while the price for Germany ($3.5 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Photographic Paper Exports in the Netherlands

In 2022, shipments abroad of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles increased by 2% to 20M square meters for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, showed a deep downturn. The exports peaked at 30M square meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, photographic paper exports surged to $253M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +68.7% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Photographic Paper Imports in the Netherlands

In 2022, the amount of photographic paper, paperboard and textiles imported into the Netherlands surged to 19M square meters, picking up by 87% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a perceptible expansion. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at 28M square meters in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, photographic paper imports reduced notably to $11M in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a precipitous setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 49% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $88M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
