In 2022, the average phosphorus import price amounted to $9,227 per ton, jumping by 44% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.3%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for China.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to +4.0% per year.
Phosphorus Imports in Ukraine
After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of phosphori decreased by -35.5% to 16 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 24 tons, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, phosphorus imports shrank to $143K in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +35.9% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 46%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $154K, and then reduced in the following year.
