In 2022, the average pharmaceutical goods import price amounted to $41,671 per ton, which is down by -24.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $95,668 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($96,905 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($8,627 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In June 2023, the average pharmaceutical goods export price amounted to $53,882 per ton, waning by -23.4% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed moderate growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 63% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $86,289 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($139K per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($32,852 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+12.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
