The average pharmaceutical goods import price stood at $50,992 per ton in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a mild curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 13%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $64,250 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($93,612 per ton), while the price for Italy ($6,807 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+17.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average pharmaceutical goods export price amounted to $185,929 per ton, jumping by 122% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a resilient expansion. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Libya ($346,266 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cameroon ($8,750 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Togo (+13.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of pharmaceutical goodses decreased by -7.9% to 611 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 14%.
