In 2022, the average petroleum jelly export price amounted to $3,342 per ton, with a decrease of -49.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 90% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $6,615 per ton in 2021, and then declined markedly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($36,440 per ton), while the average price for exports to Niger ($1,150 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sudan (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Petroleum Jelly Exports in Saudi Arabia
In 2022, shipments abroad of petroleum jellies was finally on the rise to reach 3.4 tons after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, showed a precipitous contraction.
In value terms, petroleum jelly exports dropped to $11K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a precipitous curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 19%.
