The average petroleum jelly import price stood at $3,044 per ton in July 2023, increasing by 7.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 28% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,831 per ton. From November 2022 to July 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($6,150 per ton), while the price for India ($1,943 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average petroleum jelly export price stood at $3,483 per ton in 2022, increasing by 8.7% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, petroleum jelly export price increased by +49.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 38% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $4,158 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($5,897 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($2,584 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Algeria (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
