The average petroleum jelly import price stood at $1,327 per ton in 2022, falling by -24.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,143 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Petroleum Jelly Exports in Algeria
For the fourth consecutive year, Algeria recorded growth in overseas shipments of petroleum jellies, which increased by 53% to 23 kg in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +20.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +76.9% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, petroleum jelly exports soared to $63 in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a deep reduction.
