Pears and Quinces Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
The average pears and quinces export price stood at $1,638 per ton in August 2023, rising by 2.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2023 when the average export price increased by 18% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $1,681 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($1,779 per ton), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($1,416 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Guatemala (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Pears and Quinces Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
The average pears and quinces import price stood at $1,074 per ton in August 2023, with a decrease of -27.1% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 20% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,689 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($3,806 per ton), while the price for China ($844 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Pears and Quinces Exports in the United States
For the third consecutive year, the United States recorded decline in overseas shipments of pears and quinces, which decreased by -5.1% to 107K tons in 2022. In general, exports showed a abrupt setback. The smallest decline of -0.7% was in 2021.
In value terms, pears and quinces exports shrank modestly to $149M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a perceptible reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 12% against the previous year.
