Packaging Materials Price in Tunisia (CIF) - 2022

The average packaging materials import price stood at $1,069 per ton in 2022, surging by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, packaging materials import price decreased by -15.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 68% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,261 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($1,632 per ton), while the price for Hungary ($747 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovenia (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Packaging Materials Price in Tunisia (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average packaging materials export price amounted to $1,247 per ton, jumping by 64% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, packaging materials export price decreased by -7.4% against 2020 indices. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1,346 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($6,001 per ton), while the average price for exports to Greece ($669 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+77.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Packaging Materials Imports in Tunisia

In 2022, imports of packaging materials into Tunisia soared to 128K tons, growing by 62% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports recorded a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 18,448%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, packaging materials imports surged to $137M in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 12,919% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
