Oxygen Price in Costa Rica (FOB) - 2022
The average oxygen export price stood at $0.7 per cubic meter in 2022, growing by 5.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, oxygen export price increased by +52.6% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Nicaragua ($1.3 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Panama ($0.5 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jamaica (+11.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Oxygen Price in Costa Rica (CIF) - 2022
The average oxygen import price stood at $0.8 per cubic meter in 2022, falling by -26.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 74%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1.1 per cubic meter, and then shrank notably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($18 per cubic meter), while the price for Guatemala ($0.5 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+46.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Oxygen Exports in Costa Rica
In 2022, shipments abroad of oxygen decreased by -2.7% to 1.3M cubic meters, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports saw a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 30%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.9M cubic meters. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, oxygen exports expanded slightly to $890K in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 18%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2022, the amount of oxygen imported into Costa Rica soared to 512K cubic meters, jumping by 29% compared with 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt descent. Imports peaked at 729K cubic meters in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
