Olive Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023

The average olive import price stood at $1,213 per ton in October 2023, dropping by -34.9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 69% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $5,247 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to October 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Jordan ($2,816 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($941 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Olive Price in Germany (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average olive export price amounted to $4,450 per ton, rising by 17% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a mild decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 72% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $5,436 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($8,504 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($2,149 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Olive Imports in Germany

In 2022, purchases abroad of olives decreased by -19.2% to 762 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports saw a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 52% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 1.3K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, olive imports dropped rapidly to $2.8M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 44% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $3.6M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Olive Exports in Germany

In 2022, shipments abroad of olives decreased by -29.2% to 95 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 237% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 514 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, olive exports shrank sharply to $425K in 2022. In general, exports saw a abrupt decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 184%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $1.4M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
