In 2022, the average nucleic acids import price amounted to $19,162 per ton, picking up by 25% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, nucleic acids import price decreased by -11.2% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $21,572 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

The export price peaked at $39,114 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sudan ($7,547 per ton), while the average price for exports to Uganda ($2,288 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sudan (-12.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Nucleic Acids Imports in Kenya
After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of nucleic acids and their salts decreased by -16% to 259 tons in 2022. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -4.5% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 61%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $5.2M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
