In 2022, the average nucleic acids import price amounted to $27,237 per ton, growing by 3.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a pronounced descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 24%. The import price peaked at $34,990 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($40,625 per ton), while the price for the United States ($8,422 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average nucleic acids export price stood at $27,995 per ton in 2022, dropping by -38% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw modest growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 155% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $45,124 per ton in 2021, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($143,872 per ton), while the average price for exports to Peru ($4,019 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+30.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Nucleic Acids Imports in Colombia

In 2022, supplies from abroad of nucleic acids and their salts decreased by -13.3% to 2K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.6% over the last three-year period. In value terms, nucleic acids imports fell to $55M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +37.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $61M, and then reduced in the following year.
