Nucleic Acids Price in Bulgaria (CIF) - 2022

The average nucleic acids import price stood at $14,859 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -21.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 57%. The import price peaked at $28,564 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($247,715 per ton), while the price for Spain ($2,154 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Nucleic Acids Price in Bulgaria (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average nucleic acids export price amounted to $8,516 per ton, shrinking by -9.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a measured expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average export price increased by 1,314% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $75,747 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Greece ($14,003 per ton), while the average price for exports to North Macedonia ($4,445 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Nucleic Acids Imports in Bulgaria

For the fourth year in a row, Bulgaria recorded growth in supplies from abroad of nucleic acids and their salts, which increased by 17% to 290 tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +18.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +66.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, nucleic acids imports contracted to $4.3M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 99% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $6.6M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
