Non-Metal Permanent Magnet Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average non-metal permanent magnet import price amounted to $19,443 per ton, surging by 30% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated measured growth from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.6% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, non-metal permanent magnet import price increased by +30.1% against August 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 50% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in September 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($48,781 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($10,987 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average non-metal permanent magnet export price stood at $14,438 per ton in 2022, falling by -11.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price faced a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 45%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $54,717 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($58,124 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cambodia ($2,448 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Non-Metal Permanent Magnet Imports in Thailand
After three years of growth, purchases abroad of non-metal permanent magnets decreased by -5.5% to 8.1K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 13% against the previous year.
In value terms, non-metal permanent magnet imports contracted modestly to $109M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 30% against the previous year.
