Non-Liquid Margarine Price in Uganda (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average non-liquid margarine import price amounted to $1,599 per ton, dropping by -5.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,695 per ton in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Kenya.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Kenya amounted to +0.3% per year.

Non-Liquid Margarine Price in Uganda (FOB) - 2022

The average non-liquid margarine export price stood at $1,997 per ton in 2022, surging by 54% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight curtailment. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,569 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Sudan ($2,288 per ton), while the average price for exports to Burundi ($1,378 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Rwanda (-0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Non-Liquid Margarine Imports in Uganda

After two years of decline, overseas purchases of non-liquid margarine increased by 1.8% to 8.8K tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a mild descent.

In value terms, non-liquid margarine imports fell slightly to $14M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 8.6%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $15M, and then dropped in the following year.
