Non-Liquid Margarine Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023

The average non-liquid margarine export price stood at $2,695 per ton in August 2023, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 an increase of 5.9% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $2,781 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Jamaica ($4,099 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($1,853 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belize (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Non-Liquid Margarine Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023

In August 2023, the average non-liquid margarine import price amounted to $2,571 per ton, shrinking by -4.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 13% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $2,831 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($4,202 per ton), while the price for Colombia ($1,598 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Non-Liquid Margarine Exports in the United States

In 2022, the amount of non-liquid margarine exported from the United States declined notably to 21K tons, reducing by -29.9% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated measured growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +15.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 64%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 30K tons, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, non-liquid margarine exports declined significantly to $50M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 76%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $61M, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

Non-Liquid Margarine Imports in the United States

After two years of decline, purchases abroad of non-liquid margarine increased by 23% to 15K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced reduction.

In value terms, non-liquid margarine imports skyrocketed to $37M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +58.2% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
