Non-Liquid Margarine Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2023

The average non-liquid margarine import price stood at $1,426 per ton in July 2023, declining by -12.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 82% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,467 per ton. From April 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Australia ($3,956 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($1,115 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+0.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Non-Liquid Margarine Price in Thailand (FOB) - 2023

The average non-liquid margarine export price stood at $1,922 per ton in July 2023, dropping by -2.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 13% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,153 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Myanmar ($2,109 per ton) and Cambodia ($2,093 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($1,554 per ton) and the Philippines ($1,574 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Myanmar (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Non-Liquid Margarine Imports in Thailand

In 2022, approx. 4.7K tons of non-liquid margarine were imported into Thailand; rising by 21% against 2021. In general, imports saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, non-liquid margarine imports skyrocketed to $8.7M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed significant growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Non-Liquid Margarine Exports in Thailand

In 2022, shipments abroad of non-liquid margarine increased by 52% to 1.8K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, saw a mild downturn.

In value terms, non-liquid margarine exports skyrocketed to $3.4M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
