In April 2020, the average non-liquid margarine import price amounted to $2,250 per ton, with an increase of 21% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced contraction. The import price peaked at $2,399 per ton in January 2020; however, from February 2020 to April 2020, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Colombia ($3,065 per ton), while the price for Italy ($1,292 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2020 to April 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ecuador (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Over the period under review, the export price showed a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 21% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $2,287 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Chile.

Non-liquid margarine imports into Peru skyrocketed to 5.8K tons in 2022, picking up by 19% compared with the previous year. In general, imports enjoyed significant growth. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
