Natural Sand Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average natural sand export price amounted to $131 per ton, surging by 3% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a pronounced decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 an increase of 59% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $243 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($725 per ton), while the average price for exports to Latvia amounted to $114 per ton.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Latvia (-2.3%).

The average natural sand import price stood at $25.6 per ton in September 2023, increasing by 42% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price posted a slight increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 536% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $135 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($36.0 per ton), while the price for Poland totaled $14.0 per ton.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Latvia (+14.3%).
Natural Sand Exports in Lithuania
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of natural sands, when their volume decreased by -97.5% to 341 tons. Overall, exports continue to indicate a sharp decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 16% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 14K tons, and then plummeted in the following year.
In value terms, natural sand exports contracted significantly to $356K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports faced a sharp contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 36%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $1.8M, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

Natural Sand Imports in Lithuania
For the third year in a row, Lithuania recorded decline in overseas purchases of natural sands, which decreased by -33.3% to 33K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports faced a abrupt contraction. The smallest decline of -6.4% was in 2020.
In value terms, natural sand imports fell remarkably to $589K in 2022. In general, imports saw a precipitous shrinkage. The smallest decline of -2.3% was in 2021.
