The average musical instrument strings import price stood at $1.7 per unit in August 2023, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 38% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $2.3 per unit in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($5.7 per unit), while the price for Germany ($1.5 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 when the average export price increased by 67% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1.9 per unit, and then reduced markedly in the following month.

In general, total imports indicated a pronounced increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 58%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $4.7M in 2021, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
