Molybdenum; Wire Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2023

The average molybdenum; wire import price stood at $100K per ton in September 2023, waning by -5.5% against the previous month. Over the period from September 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 19% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $130K per ton. From May 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Poland ($203K per ton), while the price for China ($78,838 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Molybdenum; Wire Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2022

The average molybdenum; wire export price stood at $79,902 per ton in 2022, falling by -59.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 353% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $197,217 per ton, and then declined significantly in the following year.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Italy.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Turkmenistan amounted to +48.5% per year.

Molybdenum; Wire Imports in Turkey

For the fourth year in a row, Turkey recorded growth in supplies from abroad of molybdenum; wires, which increased by 6.9% to 16 tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +21.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +79.2% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 46%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, molybdenum; wire imports surged to $1.5M in 2022. Overall, imports posted a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 54%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, molybdenum; wire exports surged to $6.6K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a dramatic decline.
