In 2022, the average molluscs export price amounted to $2,500 per ton, picking up by 15% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 78%. The export price peaked at $3,068 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Spain ($3,000 per ton) and the United States ($2,996 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($2,200 per ton) and Peru ($2,251 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
