Molluscs Price in Ireland (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average molluscs export price amounted to $5,165 per ton, waning by -37.3% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 139% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $14,181 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Italy ($20,730 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($2,738 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Molluscs Price in Ireland (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average molluscs import price amounted to $5,524 per ton, with a decrease of -8.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw notable growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 150% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $16,623 per ton. From March 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($25,661 per ton), while the price for Spain ($3,739 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, molluscs exports from Ireland dropped sharply to 645 tons, which is down by -39.3% compared with the year before. Overall, exports faced a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 50% against the previous year.
