The average metals; platinum, semi-manufactured export price stood at $31,947,770 per ton in 2022, dropping by -13.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a noticeable descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $42,667,852 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Japan ($33,707,857 per ton) and Canada ($32,651,567 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($25,093,000 per ton) and Italy ($29,548,587 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+34.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In September 2023, the average metals; platinum, semi-manufactured import price amounted to $30.8M per ton, with a decrease of -9.1% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 an increase of 17% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $37,932 per kg; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($33.4M per ton), while the price for the United States ($8.9M per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+7.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, shipments abroad of metals; platinum, semi-manufactureds decreased by -31.2% to 13 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports, however, recorded a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 234% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 31 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, metals; platinum, semi-manufactured exports shrank notably to $415M in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 239% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $912M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 77%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 7.1 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, metals; platinum, semi-manufactured imports fell markedly to $66M in 2022. In general, imports showed a sharp decline.
