View PricingMaple Syrup Farm
A maple syrup farm, also known as a sugar bush or maple sugar farm, is an agricultural operation that specializes in the production of maple syrup. These farms are typically located in regions where maple trees grow, such as North America, particularly in Canada and the northeastern United States.
The process of maple syrup production begins in early spring when the freezing nights and thawing days create the perfect conditions for sap extraction. Maple trees are tapped by drilling a small hole into the trunk, and a spout or a tube is inserted to collect the sap. Traditionally, metal buckets were used to collect the sap, but modern farms now use a system of plastic tubing that collects the sap from multiple trees and transports it to a central location.
The sap collected from the maple trees is a watery liquid that contains about 2% sugar. In order to make maple syrup, the sap needs to be evaporated to remove the excess water and concentrate the sugar content. This is typically done in a maple syrup evaporator, which consists of a series of shallow pans or an enclosed continuous flow system.
During the evaporation process, the sap is boiled and heated until it reaches the desired sugar concentration, which is around 66%. At this stage, it is considered maple syrup and is ready for filtering and bottling. The syrup is passed through a series of filters to remove any impurities or sediment before being packaged into containers for distribution and sale.
Maple syrup farms also produce other maple products such as maple candy, maple butter, and maple cream. These products are made by further processing the maple syrup, usually by heating and stirring it to reach a specific consistency.
In addition to maple syrup production, some farms offer educational tours and activities for visitors. These activities may include guided tours of the sugar bush, demonstrations on how maple syrup is made, and tastings of various maple products. It allows people to learn about the history and process of maple syrup production while enjoying the natural beauty of the farm.

This year, world sugar production is expected to rise by 3% to 193M tons. The growth will be encouraged by favorable weather conditions in most of the largest producing countries, as well as the providing exemptions on the neonicotinoid usage against plant diseases and blights in France, Germany and the UK. The drop in sugar production and shipments from Brazil will be offset by large volumes coming from Thailand, which will boost global exports by +2.6% y-o-y. The increased supply in the world market is to keep sugar prices relatively stable over the next two years.
