The average manganese oxides import price stood at $1,360 per ton in 2022, increasing by 59% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a perceptible decline. The import price peaked at $1,749 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($3,051 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($524 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average manganese oxides export price stood at $566 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -7.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $760 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($694 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($457 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (-0.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Manganese Oxides Imports in India

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of manganese oxideses decreased by -23.7% to 22K tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 23% against the previous year.

In value terms, manganese oxides imports surged to $30M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.4% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, overseas shipments of manganese oxideses decreased by -8.5% to 24K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports saw a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 11% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 29K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, manganese oxides exports declined rapidly to $14M in 2022. In general, exports saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 4%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $19M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
