Lubricating Oil Additive Price in Australia (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average lubricating oil additive import price amounted to $4,942 per ton, with an increase of 2.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 12% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $5,345 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($7,646 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($3,568 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lubricating Oil Additive Price in Australia (FOB) - 2022
The average lubricating oil additive export price stood at $3,650 per ton in 2022, picking up by 3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 24%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($4,833 per ton), while the average price for exports to Papua New Guinea ($2,276 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to New Zealand (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of additives for lubricating oils into Australia soared to 46K tons, picking up by 24% against the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period.
