Live Fish Price in Myanmar (FOB) - 2022
The average live fish export price stood at $3,374 per ton in 2022, jumping by 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 93% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $3,477 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($4,393 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($1,509 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average live fish import price amounted to $4,221 per ton, picking up by 82% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 97%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $37,624 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($4,505 per ton), while the price for Singapore ($1,400 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+18.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 80% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
