In 2022, the average live fish import price amounted to $25,674 per ton, waning by -22.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, posted a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 241% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $36,196 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($102,023 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($3,860 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+11.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Live Fish Imports in Iran
After two years of decline, purchases abroad of live fish increased by 48% to 211 tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a sharp descent.
In value terms, live fish imports totaled $5.4M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a sharp setback.
