The average live fish import price stood at $9,564 per ton in 2022, rising by 6.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $25,563 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($23,900 per ton), while the price for Peru ($2,058 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
