Liquefied Propane Price in Peru (CIF) - 2021

In April 2020, the average liquefied propane import price amounted to $345 per ton, which is down by -20.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2020 an increase of 2.2% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $435 per ton in March 2020, and then dropped notably in the following month.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In April 2020, the country with the highest price was Ecuador ($360 per ton), while the price for Bolivia ($331 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2020 to April 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average liquefied propane export price stood at $694 per ton in 2022, dropping by -19.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 243%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $862 per ton, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Free Zones.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Free Zones amounted to -2.0% per year.

Liquefied Propane Imports in Peru

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of liquefied propanes decreased by -14.6% to 308K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +25.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 41%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 361K tons, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, liquefied propane imports reduced rapidly to $174M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 134% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $244M, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.

Liquefied propane exports from Peru was estimated at 474 tons in 2022, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a significant curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 683% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 29K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, liquefied propane exports shrank dramatically to $329K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, faced a precipitous shrinkage.
