Liquefied Propane Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2022

The average liquefied propane export price stood at $570 per ton in 2022, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 40%. The export price peaked at $919 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($914 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($436 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (-0.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Liquefied Propane Imports in Malaysia

In 2022, purchases abroad of liquefied propanes decreased by -15.9% to 1.1K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports continue to indicate a dramatic setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 12% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 20K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, liquefied propane imports dropped notably to $601K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a sharp slump. The smallest decline of -5.3% was in 2020.
