Liquefied Propane Price in Kazakhstan (FOB) - 2022

The average liquefied propane export price stood at $627 per ton in 2022, growing by 47% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $645 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($817 per ton), while the average price for exports to Tajikistan ($426 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Algeria (+20.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average liquefied propane import price stood at $610 per ton in 2022, surging by 11% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 715% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,857 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the Netherlands.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Netherlands amounted to +11.7% per year.

Liquefied Propane Exports in Kazakhstan

For the third year in a row, Kazakhstan recorded decline in overseas shipments of liquefied propanes, which decreased by -36.7% to 748K tons in 2022. In general, exports faced a deep reduction. The smallest decline of -1.4% was in 2020.

In value terms, liquefied propane exports declined to $469M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $506M, and then contracted in the following year.

Liquefied Propane Imports in Kazakhstan

For the fourth consecutive year, Kazakhstan recorded growth in overseas purchases of liquefied propanes, which increased by 120% to 2.5K tons in 2022. Overall, imports saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 284%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, liquefied propane imports skyrocketed to $1.5M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted a significant expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
