Liquefied Butanes Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021

In December 2021, the average liquefied butanes export price amounted to $753 per ton, reducing by -4.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a prominent increase from December 2020 to December 2021: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.9% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, liquefied butanes export price increased by +68.3% against May 2021 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2021 an increase of 23% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $791 per ton in November 2021, and then fell slightly in the following month.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was China ($835 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($749 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average liquefied butanes import price stood at $1,250 per ton in December 2021, growing by 42% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2021 when the average import price increased by 45% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,772 per ton in April 2021; however, from May 2021 to December 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($1,970 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($956 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Liquefied Butanes Exports in Malaysia

Liquefied butanes exports from Malaysia dropped significantly to 243K tons in 2022, which is down by -29.3% against the previous year's figure. In general, exports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 142%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 344K tons, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, liquefied butanes exports fell sharply to $127M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 257%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $199M, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

Liquefied Butanes Imports in Malaysia

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of liquefied butaneses, when their volume decreased by -24% to 29K tons. In general, imports, however, saw a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 93% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 38K tons, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, liquefied butanes imports shrank rapidly to $22M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 133%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $30M, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
